North Data alternative
North Data is a European company database covering 27 countries, with a free search engine, premium plans from EUR 49/month and a Data API from EUR 500/month on a 12-month minimum. getregdata reads 16 official registries live at query time and charges per result, with no plan. Where North Data is the better tool
For human research they are the better tool. A free search engine, network graphs and watchlists with e-mail alerts are a finished product, and we do not have a web app at all.
Breadth and history. 27 countries and a database that keeps what registers later drop are things a live lookup cannot give you. Their own pages say their data is strongest for Germany, Switzerland and the UK.
At high API volume their rate wins. Past the 5,000 included requests they charge EUR 0.05-0.10 per request, and a heavy daily caller will pay less there than per result.
Where getregdata fits better
- →Your API volume is low or irregular. A EUR 500 monthly fee on a 12-month minimum is EUR 6,000 a year before the first call; per-result billing charges only for what you pull.
- →The answer has to be the register as it stands today - an onboarding decision, a beneficial-owner check, an insolvency screen. A daily-updated database is close; a live read is exact.
- →You need registers outside a company database - Polish land and mortgage books, the Polish debtor register by NIP, the Slovak UBO register with its PEP flag, Italian certified PEC addresses.
- →You are building for an agent. Every registry is an MCP tool and an installable skill.
Is getregdata cheaper than North Data?
For the API at low volume, yes. North Data publishes its Data API from EUR 500/month with 5,000 requests and a 12-month minimum; getregdata charges per result with no floor. For human research North Data has a free search engine and Premium from EUR 49/month, and we have no web app to compare it with.
Does getregdata have network graphs or watchlists?
No network graphs. For monitoring we run managed daily feeds on selected registers (insolvency notices, new company filings) rather than a self-serve watchlist. If you want to browse relationships between companies and people, North Data is built for that.
How current is each source?
North Data describes its data as updated daily, with a per-source update frequency on its coverage page. getregdata reads the register at the moment of the call. For most research the difference is small; for a same-day insolvency or ownership check it matters.
Can I use both?
Yes. Analysts often research in North Data and run the production checks through an API. Use getregdata where you need per-result billing or registers a company database does not carry.
